You can prioritize events in the event list by changing the event
severity, escalating or de-escalating the event, suppressing the event, hiding
the event, and indicating that the event is "in maintenance".
Changing the severity of events
Each event in the event list has an associated severity,
which is indicated by the color in the display. You can change the
severity of events only if you have permission to do so, and you can
change only the severity of events that are assigned to you, your
group, or the nobody user.
Escalating and de-escalating events
You can escalate events in the event list if, for example,
you need to call attention to the events so that different levels
of support staff can manage them. Escalating and de-escalating events
works in conjunction with the Escalated event list filter.
Suppressing events
From the event list, you can suppress events that do not
require you to take any direct action. You can suppress events only
if you have permission to do so.
Hiding events
You can hide events that you no longer want to view in
the event list. Typically, hidden events are not displayed in any
monitor boxes or event lists, except for those using the All Events
filter.
Indicating that an event is "in maintenance"
If the problem that caused an event is being dealt with,
you can indicate that the event is "in maintenance", in the event
list. The Maintenance priority works in conjunction with the Maintenance
event list filter.
