Viewing historical information for accelerated events

Inbound notifications for accelerated events are maintained within a history buffer. You can view this information within the Historical Data Viewer window, and access further details about these events from the desktop event list or the Web GUI Active Event List.

About this task

If national language characters are not displayed in the Historical Data Viewer window, you need to change the font setting.

To view historical information about accelerated events:

Procedure

  1. Perform the appropriate action for your operating system:
    Operating system Action
    UNIX Right-click over the floating notifier panel, and click History from the pop-up menu.
    Windows From the Windows system tray, right-click over the Connected icon or the You have Messages icon, and click History from the pop-up menu.
    The Historical Data Viewer window opens.

    Within this window, summary information for each accelerated event is shown on separate lines, and the total number of entries is shown at the bottom of the window. The summary information is collated from the data displayed in the pop-up notifier for the each event. The format for each line is as follows:

    @ receipt_time summary_information

    where:
    • @ is color-coded to depict the severity of the event. If the Severity column is not part of the channel definition or there is no valid color mapping, the @ symbol appears in black text on a white background.
    • receipt_time is the date and time when the notification was received by the Accelerated Event Notification client.
    • summary_information contains column data that is configured to appear in pop-up notifiers. This information is shown in a concatenated format.
  2. Double-click any line entry to view the event in the event list or the Active Event List. You can also use the up and down arrow keys to move through the list of entries in the Historical Data Viewer window and then press Enter to view the event in the relevant event list. Note that you cannot select multiple entries in the Historical Data Viewer window.
  3. To delete the entries in the Historical Data Viewer window, click Clear History. When asked if you want to reset the history, click Yes to remove all the entries from the window. You are then asked whether you want to reset pop-ups. Click Yes to close all pop-up notifiers, or No to leave them open.
  4. To close the Historical Data Viewer window, click Close. Alternatively, press Esc.
