Setting preferences in wizard mode

Before you use IBM® Installation Manager to install or update packages, you can set preferences that control the characteristics of your environment.

About this task

To set these preferences, click File > Preferences. On the OS X operating system, the Preferences option is under the IBM Installation Manager menu.

Repository preferences
A repository is a location that stores data for installing, modifying, rolling back, updating, or uninstalling packages. Add, edit, or remove repositories and modify the repository order in the repository table.
Appearance preference
You can select or clear the appearance preference to show version details of the package you are installing.
Rollback preference
Use the rollback feature to revert to a previous version of an updated package. Some packages do not support rollback.
Help preferences
Specify how the help, search, and context-sensitive help windows display information. Set the help preferences by clicking File > Preferences > Help in IBM Installation Manager. On the OS X operating system, the Preferences option is under the IBM Installation Manager menu.
Internet preferences
Proxy servers enable connections to remote servers from behind a firewall.
Setting Passport Advantage preferences
Set the IBM Passport Advantage® preference to connect to Passport Advantage.
Updates preference
IBM Installation Manager can search packages that you are installing, modifying, or updating for newer versions of Installation Manager that might be included with the package installation files. This preference is cleared by default.
